Who Should Attend?
All personnel required to operate a Skid Steer Loading Shovel.
Duration:
4 days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor. Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.
Aim
Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Skid Steer Loading Shovel.
Content
* An Introduction to the Construction Industry
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
* Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
* Other current relevant regulations
* Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Introduction to machine
* Pre – shift inspections
* Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems
* Controls and instruments
* Creating a stockpile with excavated material
* Excavate from a bank/stockpile
* Use of the 4-in-1 bucket
* Loading vehicles
* Reducing the level of excavations to line and level
Knowledge
By the end of the course delegates will be able to
* Be able to operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice.
* Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
* Be able to operate safely under varying site conditions.
* Be able to carry out minor adjustments and routine services.
* Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & other current relevant legislation.
Additional Information
Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
