Who Should Attend?
All personnel required to operate a Non passenger Carrying Hoist.
Duration:
3 days, this depends on the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per Instructor. Foundation course includes 1 Day Module 2 Health & Safety Course.
Aim
Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Non Passenger Carrying Hoist.

* An Introduction to the Construction Industry
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations
* Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations
* Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Other current relevant regulations
* Introduction to machine
* Pre – shift inspections
* Factors which may affect the operation of the machine
* Techniques for operating next to other activities
* Characteristics of loads and handling techniques
* Communication and signalling procedures
* Methods and procedures for erecting and dismantling hoists
* Types and operation of safety devices
* Positioning and placing of loads at various floor levels
* Methods and procedures for putting the hoist out of service after work
Knowledge
By the end of the course delegates will be able to
* Operate the machine safely and correctly in accordance with manufacturers’ instructions and accepted good practice.
* Carry out a pre-shift inspection.
* Operate safely under varying site conditions.
* Carry out minor adjustments and routine services.
* Have an understanding of responsibilities under Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 & other current relevant legislation.
Additional Information
Eligible companies are able to claim grants for this training, which will pay for a substantial amount if not all of the training costs, as this course is CITB approved for grant purposes.
